I’m Evan Pandes, and I go to Woodside High School in the Bay Area. I was reached out to by Jaden to be a part of planning this conference towards the end of my sophomore year. I was excited to join because I had already been involved with my school’s Asian American Pacific Islander club and really wanted to do something on a larger scale. The West Coast Asian Student Union seemed to really fit the bill which is why I decided to join. I hope to bring people from all walks of life together at this conference and see our community thrive as they learn more about our culture and have fun meeting new people.

 

As someone who is mixed, my culture isn’t really at one extreme which is why I really love to see people from different places trying new things and exploring the customs of those around them. One uniting thing that I really love about both sides of my family is the strong emphasis they both put on family and staying together, whether it be through getting together on a random Sunday for a big lunch or going away to the beach on a long weekend to see everyone who might live further away.
