Discover the West Coast Asian Student Union

Bringing AAPI Students Together

The West Coast Asian Student Union (WCASU) was founded by a team of high schoolers around the West Coast. We founded this organization to create a space where Asian and Pacific Islander students can connect, express themselves, and build real community.

We want students to better understand their identities and feel supported by others going through similar experiences, especially in High School. We see the transition from Middle School to High School as the biggest for students, and also when students face the most discrimination or hate.

We are here to support High School students to help them feel heard and focus on creating a welcoming environment where people can share their stories, learn about culture and history, and build meaningful connections with others across different schools.

More Details

The West Coast Asian Student Union was formed in 2025 at Athenian School in Danville California alongside other Asian Student Groups in the Bay area. We were inspired by the East Coast Asian Student Union, which, for years, has hosted conferences and fostered community on the East Coast.

In creating the WCASU we hope to inspire and empower others by teaching them about Asian Heritage and highlighting role models to look up to and learn from. Although we’re just starting we want to explore Asian and Pacific Islander culture through explorations with speakers, workshops, and other activities that aim to empower Asian and Pacific Islander minorities on the West Coast. We truly believe that everyone deserves a space to express their culture and hope that the WCASU can serve as a place to do so.

We believe our conference is the best way to do so. If you are interested in being apart of it, read all of our details on our events page!

WCASU Conference On May 30

On May 30, 2026, the West Coast Asian Student Union will host its first conference at The Athenian School, bringing together AAPI students from across the West Coast for a day of connection, leadership, and community.

The event will feature inspiring speakers, including Drew Shih and Abigail Hing Wen, along with interactive workshops on identity, leadership, history and current social issues. Students will have the opportunity to share experiences, build relationships, and grow as leaders in their communities.
